BRIDGET FOLEY CERAMICS
All Bridget Foley ceramics are individually made on a potter's wheel, using porcelain clay. She mixes all her own glazes and fires the work to 1300 degrees celcius, which makes her tableware very strong and durable.
The tableware range includes a variety of different sized bowls which may be used for a variety of foods such as rice, soup, pasta and salads. Her range also includes mugs, sugar bowls, jugs, vases and small dishes.
The shape of each piece and the glazes combine to make a unique piece of artwork that can be used every day. It is a pleasure to be able to have beautiful handcrafted objects to touch and use. It all adds to joy of eating and sharing food. All work is microwave, oven and dishwasher safe.
All prices range from $25 for small bowls up to $90- $120 for larger items. Special commissions may also be arranged and visitors to her studio gallery are by appointment.
DESIGNER + MADE IN
Where do you get your inspiration?
"I get my inspiration from Japanese and Chinese traditions, both in shapes and glazes. The celedons, chuns, copper reds and tenmoku glazes originate from these countries. I mix all my own glazes and use these colours in different combinations to give my work a contemporary look."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"The glaze on a vase was a copper red on one side and a delicate pale blue on the other, which wasn't what I expected when I opened the kiln. This is what makes firing a kiln an exciting experience; the fire in the kiln often works its own magic."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"I work with porcelaneous clay. It has a lovely pale body when fired which shows off my colourful glazes beautifully."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"I want to expand my range to include plates and larger bowls and vases."
Describe your products in three words...
"Colourful. Well-crafted. Functional."
