LISA PAYTON CREATIVE ARTS
One of Mandurah’s most innovative visual artists, Lisa Payton Creative Arts is developing and experimenting with a wide range of mixed media techniques to create inspirational and highly experimental techniques.
Over her creative career, Lisa has birthed a strong and unique brand she has entitled “Abstract Earth Art.” Her self-developed mixed medium style involves experimental paint pouring, multiple textured layering and brush and palette knife techniques.
Payton's original canvases, printed canvases, printed aluminium outdoor wall hangings, aluminium outdoor coasters, aluminium table settings pieces, aluminium placemats, greeting cards, bookmarks, beaded bookmarks, magnets, postcards, magnetic jigsaw puzzles, deliberately leave the subject open to interpretation, enhancing the sense of intimacy and connection between artwork and viewer. They are designed to draw the viewer into recognising nature in all its beauty of color and texture.
It’s this recognition of the land that Payton delivers a positive environmental message, one of respect and responsibility towards the earth we live in. Her powerful works are an intoxicating reminder of the ethereal qualities of weather and the immensity of nature. She enjoys watching people interpreting her artwork and creating their own environmental story from it.

Mandurah, Western Australia
Where do you get your inspiration?
"Inspired by the magnificence of Australia’s landscape and nature in all its realms of space, shape, and detail, I deploy a variety of mediums such as grass tree resin, bitumen, textured plasters, modeling paste, impasto, canvas and board, photography skills, Powertex, and material to complete my acrylic mixed media masterpieces."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"I don't really have a favourite piece as I like them all. But if I had to choose, I would pick out the ones that have movement and flow in them and represent the Australian landscape. Ones that have Abstract Earth Art in them and look like bird's eye view paintings."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"My favorite materials at the moment are acrylic inks and Powertex. I just love the way the inks pour over and flow into the nooks and crannies of the textured abstract semi sculptured raised up patterns that I have made by using the Powertex."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"I would expand my product range to include Powertex. Its fantastic it’s versatile and environmentally friendly, non- toxic, water based fabric hardener. It’s great for any natural porous material, giving me the creative opportunity to be textural in my mixed media canvas work. It’s ideally suited for sculptures."
