ROSES & EDE
Roses & Ede furniture and homewares brings to bear years of study and exploration in the field of industrial design and a mid-century Scandinavian design sensibility.
Roses & Ede was borne out of an enduring fascination with furniture design and a commitment to living more purposefully, courageously, authentically and playfully.
Roses & Ede products are lovingly designed and assembled in Melbourne. Many pieces are constructed with high quality plywood and recycled hardwood, complemented by occasional accents of steel.
Roses & Ede aspires to be ecologically responsible and considers the environmental impact of materials and techniques as well as the longevity and multi-functionality of products. Most of their products are adaptable to different living and work spaces. However, many projects are custom designed to provide innovative and ingenuous solutions to suit particular settings.
Roses & Ede is also interested in fostering creative communities and is mindful of how artful and insightful design impacts on and informs human interactions and meaningful relationships.
Roses & Ede enjoy commissions and custom orders and all existing designs can be modified in terms of design, dimensions and materials.

Where do you get your inspiration?
"We are inspired by the democratic values, accessibility, functionality and aesthetic of the Bauhaus movement of design and architecture. We endeavour to combine this design sensibility with a contemporary focus and a commitment to ecologically sustainable materials."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"I really adore the children’s bookshelf (toddler height) I made for my daughter with a little matching reading stool. These pieces were responses to my daughter’s love of reading and they really launched this whole adventure of Roses & Ede."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"I adore working with different timbers, especially hardwoods. I feel like each timber is a special friend with its own flavour and poetry."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"Small dwellings, textiles, glass blowing, film making and cheese."
Describe your products in three words...
"Contemporary. Plywood. Utilitarian."
