SOME DAYS ARE DIAMONDS
Some Days are Diamonds hand makes many pieces from scratch and also rebuilds old pieces in order to refresh them, or be more serviceable.
Some Days are Diamonds has been owned by Richard and Helen Hosking for over 30 years. Richard designs all pieces through one-on-one consults with the buyer whilst Helen paints from her home studio. A large number of customers are repeat customers returning again and again as their needs and desires have changed over time.
Richard lovingly cuts work-benches in half lengthwise to fit the new, modern look of a hallway, or as a sofa table in a lounge room. Pieces include dining tables, hall tables, coffee tables and many other unique items.
Recycled timber has always been used by Richard, as it is aged, has more character and looks genuine. All pieces are reasonable and vary depending on the work that has been applied, the uniqueness of the piece and the time taken to construct.

Where do you get your inspiration?
"We have always been inspired since the days when we door knocked farms in the bush as a hobby. We read magazines from overseas, and always browse online at some favoured websites. Sometimes a piece of furniture has its own voice and this dictates how we approach its up-scaling."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
We love a couple of pieces. One is a dear little two door Baltic cupboard, with a moustache top, which we found in the Barossa. Another is a revamped work-bench, the wood at least 150 years old, which we paired with a modern base and two packed in black; divine!"
What is your favourite material to work with?
"We love working with aged wood."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"We try to be ahead of the pack and are always changing our product range, so you'll have to wait and see!"
Describe your products in three words...
"Unique. Quality. Durable."
