THE ART OF GLASS
Clare from The Art of Glass creates mosaics which are both practical and beautiful for your home or business.
These include mirrors, murals, vases, sculptures, tables and garden seats to name just a few. The latest work in progress is an Italian Vespa, which will stand proudly displayed on a deck alongside an Italian street scene.
Designed in consultation with the client each piece is unique and created to complement the home or office. Sometimes pieces are based on a travel photo, a much loved image of a pet or simply an abstract to reflect light, a mood an emotion. The beauty of mosaics is the ability to create a unique piece that reflects the heart of a home, conjures a feeling and is breathtakingly inspiring.
Unique to The Art of Glass is dimensional mosaics, using leadlight glass on acrylic painted and textured canvas. With this concept Clare is able to dabble in both acrylic painting and the world of mosaics bringing them together to create stunning pieces.

Where do you get your inspiration?
"Inspiration comes from seeing a space that lacks life, a dark entry or a room needs to reflect an emotion or moment in time. And so filling a spot in a home with something like a table, or reflecting light into a room from a mosaic mirror is so rewarding."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"Although I love my garden party bowls because of the beauty they bring everyday and the elegance, style and practical aspects they give to a celebration, my favourite piece is a self-portrait with my beautiful dog Carlo, who is near my heart always."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"Naturally my favourite material is leadlight glass, but as is the nature of mosaics, it is fabulous to work with beads, old jewellery, buttons, fabrics, chain, smalti, china and coins."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"Having developed my garden party bowls, creating something entirely new is a challenge that I am facing right now. I am in the process of developing more sculptural items that include fabrics, lace, and beadwork along with glass."
