Australian artist Trudy Rice is delighted to share her new range of designer cushions inspired by nature, with a particular emphasis on Australian Flora and Fauna.
Trudy's arts practice is geared towards the protection of our environment. Initially all her images are etched onto solar plates then printed onto paper, this process is environmentally friendly using the sun and water to etch a plate instead of the more traditional technique of acid. These images are then transferred with beautiful colour, light and joy to her range of homewares.
A love of nature and the environment are her main focus. She is passionate about preserving its beauty and capturing its uniqueness in her work.
With her images of the iconic Black Cockatoo, Dragonfly and Waratah, she brings a depth, vibrancy and magical layering to your home.
Proudly supporting Australia by making all products in Melbourne, with 100% organic cotton/hemp.
Trudy's latest venture is a coupling of her beautiful artwork on quality organic fabric, the result is a stunning array of designer cushions.

Where do you get your inspiration?
"My inspiration is collected quite close to home, from my garden and around the coastal landscape of Lorne on Victoria’s picturesque Great Ocean Road. My studio is filled with specimens collected from the bush and sea. Clear air, gorgeous skies, beach and bush provide a never-ending palette to draw from."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"I have a few favourites, however my signatures 'The Dragonfly' and much-loved 'Black Cockatoos' are a wonderful example of the love I have of our natural world."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"Solar plate etching would have to be my favourite medium. I use this medium for the very purpose of helping to protect and preserve our environment. Using the sun and water to etch a plate rather than acid which can damage our very sensitive and fragile planet."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"I am currently looking into expanding my range to a series of wallpaper designs. These would be suitable for commercial and high performance use as well as outdoor and residential projects."
Describe your products in three words...
