Wildhome Designs are designers and makers of homeware products using Australia's unique flora and fauna as inspiration. They design beautiful fabric prints and assemble these to create soft furnishings, oven gloves, tea towels and other home goods.
With their in-house designer Joanna Reid they take their cue from wilderness icons such as gorgeous grevilleas, eucalypts and cheeky peewees. Their round placemats have been described as wild-space swatches, each hosting original art and design vibrantly evocative of Australian bushland and fauna. Tea cosies are definitely on a revival rally and Wildhome Designs use these useful, hand-made products to create joyous explosions of botanica like you've never seen before.
Mindful of connections to community and the environment, Wildhome Designs source suppliers with similar environmental ethics and practices. Most materials used are recycled, or made from remnant or natural fibres, including linen/cotton, 45% recycled polyester, wool and remnant-bin yarns. All of their homeware products are affordable and easy to ship.
Wildhome Designs are a beautiful and practical addition to any home and share a unique maker’s story.
DESIGNED + MADE IN
Where do you get your inspiration?
"We’re all different but in my case the national parks and beaches of northern New South Wales gave me a big dose of inspiration when I moved there in 2005. I started seeing the natural world around me in a new way and haven't stopped drawing and painting ever since. I jumped at the opportunity to design for Wildhome Designs"
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"That’s really hard - they're all favourites! It’s a bit like having kids really. Each piece has its own inspiration and making story."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"My favourite is acrylic as it is so vibrant but also it uses less solvent. For the fabric pieces, natural is definitely preferable to synthetic, but I do love the vivid colours of recycled polyester fabric. I also can’t go past the gentleness and texture of linen/cotton."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"One of these days I'd like to design upholstery fabric and use it to revamp furniture. I also want to design wallpapers, handbags and totes. I've been looking at women's sports bags too. Endless possibilities!"
