WOODSONG FINE FURNITURE
Woodsong Fine Furniture is located on a farm property in North Queensland where Kim Tucker keeps 30 to 40 cubic metres of drying furniture timbers that he has salvaged and milled locally - everything from rainforest exotics to drier country hardwoods.
Kim likes traditional woodworking, but also modern design (clean lines and dovetailed drawers). He works to commission, making built-in and free-standing pieces including libraries, entertainment units, display cases, dining suites, bedroom suites, hallway tables, and many other items.
Every piece is custom designed and built to suit your living environment. The exchange of samples, photos and drawings is encouraged and Kim is happy to quote on your requirements. Kim’s workshop is on the Atherton Tableland near Cairns and you are welcome to visit. Please ring or email first.

DESIGNED + MADE IN
Where do you get your inspiration?
"My experience is that you never know where the next spark for a design idea is going to come from. I like the clean lines of modern furniture and the mixture of new materials and lighting. I also like classical Chinese and Japanese furniture and many European influences."
What has been your favourite piece and why?
"The way I know that I really like something is when I hate parting with it. For me, this mainly happens with my desks, hallway tables and small storage cabinets. They seem to have fewer design restrictions and allow me more time to play with all the elements of design."
What is your favourite material to work with?
"Without a doubt, my favourite timbers are Queensland Walnut, Maple Silkwood, Red Silkwood, White Cedar, Red Cedar and Queensland Maple. Put me on a desert island with any one of these and I'll be happy."
If you were to expand your product range to something entirely different, what would it be?
"I ran a pottery for many years and am hoping in the near future to start marketing the sculptural and decorative pieces that a friend and I are making."
Describe your products in three words...
"Unique. Handmade. Woodwork."
